The fastest and easiest way to lose weight is to increase your metabolism. However, it can be confusing to know what will speed up your metabolism and what can significantly slow it down. Here are 5 simple steps that will tell you how to increase your metabolism.
Decrease your maximum calories by 500 calories a day. Never consume less than 1000 calories in a day, as it will be very unhealthy and harmful for your body. Your body needs certain amounts of nutrients and energy every day to survive. If you starve yourself too much, your body will see it as a threat to its survival. If you haven’t had enough food for a while, your body uses fat as a way of storing energy. So if you don’t supply your body with food it will slow down your metabolism and try to hold onto as much fat as possible.
eat more often Eat 6 small meals a day, this will prevent your body from thinking it hasn’t had enough food, and so your metabolism will remain consistently high. Eat food every 3 hours, because it takes about 3 hours to digest food. Eating more frequently will also prevent you from cravings between meals and increase your energy.
Eat more protein. Eat a high-quality protein, such as chicken, eggs or fish, with each meal. Protein will provide the building blocks your body needs to repair and build cells. You need to provide your body with protein frequently, as it can only be used within your body for a maximum of 3 hours. Without protein sources from food, your body will have to break down muscle, leaving you with less muscle mass. Decreased muscle will lower your metabolism, and the number of calories you’re able to burn throughout the day.
Weight lifting. Weight lifting will build and strengthen your muscles. Muscle is the engine that drives your metabolism, the more you exercise the higher your resting metabolism. Lift weights 3 times a week, but only train each body part once a week. For example, do Legs Monday, Chest Wednesday, and Back Friday. Do full body lifts like squats and deadlifts, as these will stimulate the most muscle fibers and increase your metabolism even more. Increase the weight each week, this will increase your strength and muscle mass.
cardio training. Aim to do 20 to 30 minutes of high-intensity cardio every other day. The best time to do cardio is in the morning on days you don’t do weight training. This will keep your metabolism high in between weight training sessions. Try increasing the intensity of each workout slightly, this will prevent your body from adapting to the workout.
Use these 5 tips to increase your metabolism and lose weight fast. Increasing your metabolism is one of the easiest ways to lose weight and keep it off.
