The Medifast Diet and Oprah Winfrey – Has Oprah Ever Done Medifast?

Over the years, Oprah has definitely tried a lot of different diets. But for anyone who’s wondering whether Oprah ever did Medifast, I’m pretty sure the answer is no. In the 1980s, Oprah followed a diet that at the time was similar to Medifast. But that diet was actually called Optifast and is owned by a different company.

The big similarity between Optifast and Medifast is that both were essentially liquid diets in the ’80s. This results in very rapid weight loss not only for Oprah, but for many other dieters as well. Oprah lost about 65 pounds in just a few months. But you’ve got to see— he got it all back. This is commonly the case with a lot of dieters who follow very strict and very low calorie diets like Optifast. In fact, the diet is so strict that it actually requires a doctor’s supervision to make sure you’re getting all the necessary nutrients and aren’t causing any damage to your internal organs.

While Medifast was really like Optifast at the time, it has changed a lot over the years. First, Medifast is no longer a strictly liquid diet. Optifast is still around, but I am not familiar with how Optifast works nowadays, although I do know it is still a meal replacement program. It’s also a diet that requires you to go to a doctor’s clinic instead of ordering it for yourself at home. This is one of the major advantages of Medifast. By making changes to the 5&1 plan and incorporating fresh whole foods into your daily meal plan, you can safely follow Medifast on your own. However, it’s always a good idea to tell your doctor what you’re doing if he or she has any concerns about your health in particular.
