Bengaluru:a 47-year-old housewife HSR Design in Bengaluru, endured months of misdiagnosis. Although she was initially considered to be suffering from a mental and behavioral disorder, her symptoms were actually caused by a large number of brain tumoras reported by TOI.
The woman began experiencing hallucinations and stopped communicating with her family. “She had low mood, urinary incontinence, decreased ability to speak, seemed distant, did not talk to people, as well as memory problems and headaches, for six to eight months. She also had visual impairment in one eye and behaved abnormally,” said her husband, a technology professional.

“When the psychiatrist didn’t help us, we decided to consult a neurosurgeon. After a full MRI, we realized that it was not a Mental illness“It’s not a tumor, but a tumor,” her husband explained. The tumor had grown to the size of a tennis ball in the frontal lobes of the brain, which are responsible for decision-making and behavioral regulation.
Dr Aniruddha Tekkatte Jagannatha, neurosurgeon at Aster RV Hospital, explained in the media report: “The frontal lobes are one of the largest and most developed parts of the human brain. Dysfunction in this area due to tumors such as meningiomas or gliomas can cause psychiatric symptoms such as mood changes, abnormal behavior and personality disturbances in less than 10 percent of cases. These symptoms are often misdiagnosed, delaying treatment.”
He underwent an eight-hour surgery using advanced navigation and blue light technology, allowing for complete removal of the tumor. Surprisingly, she returned to her normal self within a week, which brought immense relief and joy to her family.
