A friend of mine thought she read somewhere that Cheerios is okay for a candida diet breakfast if you must have cereal. She wonders if it is true as now she cannot find it in her book and she is getting desperate for breakfast.
This is her first breakfast and this morning she tried porridge, some kind of wafer, a rice cake, sardines and she finds they are all disgusting. Actually, the sardines were fine, but not for breakfast. And she didn’t know there were bones. She is very hungry and can’t wait till lunch when she can eat potatoes.
I think Cheerios still have sugar in them, so this may not be a good option. For cereals, I found puffed rice or puffed rice to be fine. I use almond milk (or vanilla soy milk with no sugar), a bit of protein powder, and then sprinkle with cinnamon. If you like tofu, a soy product, you can beat it like an egg and add spices of your choice. Serve it over a bed of brown rice or any other quinoa substitute you can cook like rice. Quinoa has a nuttier flavor than most grains. I found that I like it.
Millet tastes closer to corn, another much safer option. All of these grain alternatives do not contain gluten, which is very helpful since many of us candida sufferers cannot tolerate gluten products (wheat, rye, barley). There are also some food allergy cook books that may have some good recipes for non-yeast breads, muffins, and pancakes/waffles.
I know how hard it is to find breakfast. It is all about the individual body. In my case, I am allergic to wheat, dairy products, eggs, and sugar or any type of sweetener other than natural sugar. I only eat dry cereal that doesn’t contain these things.
