We’ve all heard the promises about the various “diets that work”. All we have to do is buy a particular book, subscribe to a service, or make sure we buy all our food in neat little packages and we’ll lose weight. These diets are believed to be guaranteed to work. Most of them will also come with a series of testimonials attesting to how well they work. The problem is that it can be very difficult to separate the scammers from the legitimate. In an effort to help you separate the good from the bad, here are three general threads common to all diets that work for regular people.
simple diets that work
Simplicity is the key to any major endeavor, weight loss or otherwise. If you’re given a long list of rules to remember, you’re going to give up. Most people are too busy to spend a lot of time trying to determine whether that Cobb salad they’re thinking of ordering meets their diet’s thirty different rules on them. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to keep things simple so that you don’t give up before you get results.
they don’t need special food
Some specialty branded diet plans require purchasing all of your food directly from them, as part of your weight loss effort. While this can certainly be a good method of portion and calorie control, it won’t work indefinitely. Eventually, you’ll need to go off the diet and go back to regular eating. You will not lose weight if you do not know how to feed yourself without special food.
they last
let’s face it. Most of us view diet as little more than a means to an end. We go on diets and lose weight so that we can look good and still eat what we want. The problem with this argument is that it doesn’t work for sustained weight loss. To maintain your new, slim body long term, you need to change the way you eat every day. Forget the word diet. Instead think of it as a lifestyle change that will be with you forever.
Several new specialized weight loss diets flood the market every year. New books are being written all the time. Miracle weight loss cures are becoming more common with each passing day. The problem is, for every tip that works, there are dozens more that want nothing more than to separate you from your money. Diets that work aren’t complicated and don’t require any special products. They are simple lifestyle adjustments that you can live with for the rest of your life.
