A physician in Scarsdale, New York, introduced the Scarsdale Diet to the mainstream public in the 1970s. Today, many people still find that the Scarsdale Diet is capable of helping them achieve their weight loss goals, but the vague outline of the Scarsdale Plan can seem boring. The following are Scarsdale diet recipes and meal plans for one day for those interested in a tasty way to lose weight.
The plan must be followed exactly as written, with no substitutions (unless otherwise indicated). This one-day plan of Scarsdale Diet recipes and meals contains recipes (when indicated) at the end of the one-day meal plan.
Day 1:
Breakfast:
0.5 x grapefruit or 6 oz grapefruit juice. Grapefruit (not juice) is recommended for best results.
1 slice of protein toast (you can toast it, but don’t add butter or spreads)
Coffee, tea, water or diet soda. (Any non-cal/non-carb beverage may be substituted, although watch their sodium content on these.) Do not add any sugar, milk, cream or honey. You can use non-caloric sweeteners such as saccharin, Splenda, Equal, aspartame, Truvia, etc.
lunch:

two slices of protein toast

Coffee, tea, water or diet soda. You can add lemon to tea or water for added flavor and the lemon will act as a natural diuretic to flush out fats, ketones and toxins from the system.
dinner:

Zesty Hamburger Scarsdale Recipes (and Meals)
shopping list:
1 pound lean ground chuck
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
one teaspoon garlic powder
small chopped onion
Mix all the ingredients together. Divide patties into four equal burger portions. Boil for fifteen minutes or till the juice becomes clear.

salad:
4 cups mixed lettuce greens of your choice
two tomatoes cut into wedges
16 green or black olives sliced
One medium cucumber sliced julienne style (small thin sticks)
One quarter of a medium red onion, sliced.
Dressing:
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
0.5 x teaspoon fresh garlic (finely chopped) 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
one beef bouillon cube finely diced
0.5 x teaspoon ground black pepper
Whisk together dressing ingredients and let stand for 15 minutes.
Toss the vegetables together in a large bowl. Pour dressing over greens and toss again. Makes four one-cup servings.
Spicy Fish with Japanese Vegetables Scarsdale Diet Recipes (and Meals)
four six-ounce tilapia (or other white fish) fillets
one lemon, diced
2 cups fresh green beans
two carrots, grated
0.5 x medium red onion
1 green chilli, cored and chopped
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
One cup snow pea pods (don’t substitute regular peas)
Place tilapia fillets in a skillet sprayed with vegetable spray. Sprinkle salt, pepper, thyme, oregano and ginger powder over them. Steam till done. Remove from skillet and squeeze a lemon wedge over each fillet. Cancel. While skillet is still hot, add vegetables to skillet (discard any liquid from cooking fish in skillet). Sauté the vegetables on medium heat till soft but still firm. When the vegetables are cooked, place four equal portions on plates and top with the fish fillets. serve. Makes four servings.
