There are two types of cholesterol

According to the report of Hopkins Medicine, there are two types of cholesterol in the human body. A low density lipoprotein, also known as LDL. This cholesterol is also considered bad cholesterol. The second cholesterol is High Density Lipoprotein ie HDL. This is also good cholesterol. When the amount of good cholesterol increases, it is good for the body. Due to increase in bad cholesterol, its production decreases. And, it can harm the body anytime. The more balance these two remain, the better it will be for the body.

What would be the normal level?

Total cholesterol in the body should be less than 200 mg/dL. If more cholesterol is between 200 to 239 mg/dL then it is considered near the danger line. If there is 240 mg/dL cholesterol then it is considered high. Being more than this can be even more dangerous.

The amount of LDL should be up to 100 mg/dL only. This is normal level. 129 mg/dL is borderline and 160 to 189 mg/dL will be considered dangerous.

The amount of HDL should always be in the range of 40 mg/dL to 60 mg/dL.

Other types of triglycerides should be less than 150 mg/dL. 150 to 199 mg/dL will also be considered around normal. But, when it is 200 to 499 mg/dL, it will be a dangerous level.
