These days, when fast food has become a habit all over the world, it is essential that you teach your kids to eat healthy food regularly. It is very important that you get your child used to eating fruits, vegetables and cooked food. This will allow him to develop harmoniously and grow strong and healthy.
The first step in getting your baby or toddler to eat vegetables is to create colorful dishes that grab their attention. When kids are young they take delight in things that look good and are as colorful as possible. That’s why you have to put all your creativity to work when it comes to cooking. Use as many vegetables as possible and mix them in an original way.
You can make flowers, houses, trees and even some animals out of your food. In addition, you can also add some animal shaped pasta to your soup. Your kids will be delighted with the idea and will eat it just for fun. You can even dare them to find and eat a sheep, horse or chicken. If you have more than one child, you can start a competition and see who can find and eat the most animals in the least amount of time. This way, mealtime will be more enjoyable and tastier, like a game.
It is very important that the whole family eats the same meal at the same time. If you set special mealtimes for your baby and give him food specially cooked for him, he will feel neglected and refuse to eat. That is why, you must gather all the members of your family around the table at a fixed time, preferably at the same time every day and have your meals together. If your baby sees that everyone else is eating what he is eating, he will try to copy you and eat as much as he can. He will understand the importance of food properly and will not refuse to eat.
If you really want your child to eat everything from his plate, you should give him a smaller portion. It is not good to give too much food to your child and force him to eat everything. He will probably refuse to do so and become more and more frustrated. Thus, it is better to take smaller portions and let him ask for more if he wants. It will be his decision as he probably knows better when there is no more space in his stomach.
Feeding your child healthy, cooked foods can be quite easy if you’re willing to wait and make some concessions. Let him eat everything on his own, even if it means more mess on the floor and in his face, keep smaller portions on his plate, make the food as tempting as possible, and eat it all in one go. These simple things will get your baby looking forward to the upcoming meal time. He will eat well and develop harmoniously.
