MUMBAI : A survey by HR solutions provider Genius Consultants found that 77% of the workforce believe that work-related stress has had an adverse effect on their mental health leading to stress, anxiety and depression .

The published report shows that the human resource solutions showed that 77 percent of survey participants confirmed that work-related stress can induce anxiety and depression, 14 percent were neutral, and a meager 9 percent denied the possibility altogether.

The report further revealed that 82 percent of the participants validated that health problems such as immunodeficiency disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and musculoskeletal disorders are directly related to work-related stress, while 14 percent remained neutral and the remaining 7 percent denied any connection.

The report is based on a survey of 1,380 employees from September 5 to October 15, 2022, in sectors such as banking and finance, construction and engineering, education, FMCG, hospitality, human resources solutions, IT, ITES and BPO, logistics and manufacturing.

“The fact that the majority of respondents agreed that work-related stress affects an individual’s mental health is very revealing. In the current era, where the conversation about mental health has gained momentum, it is crucial that we identify work stress and the environment as the main reasons for the increasing cases of deteriorating mental health conditions of employees.

“We, as part of India Inc, must consciously work to cement any imbalance in the work environment of all working professionals,” said Genius Consultants CMD RP Yadav.
