Wrestling is one of the toughest individual sports in the world. I’m not talking about the jumps from high ropes in WWE, but rather “real” wrestling where one opponent faces off against another in a test of skill, strength, and stamina. Wrestling workouts require every muscle in the body to be successfully worked and anaerobic conditioning workouts done at the same time. Strength endurance can be achieved by training each muscle in circuits through full body workouts that also allow for phenomenal cardiovascular effects. Bootcamp workout programs are a great way for wrestlers to train in the off season and when they are not in practice during the season.
bootcamp exercise
I was a champion wrestler in high school and then later joined the infantry and became a US Marine. The workouts at Parris Island were rigorous but not really any tougher than in my wrestling coach days. Even yelling was my habit as my coach made me work hard in wrestling practice. What I observed was that these practice sessions were almost like wrestling practice and everyone around me was rapidly losing body fat and getting in shape. 13 weeks on Parris Island will prepare anyone quickly. I lost 30 pounds of fat I gained during college and it took only 3 months without dieting.
The workouts are very simple consisting of full body exercises like jumping jacks, mountain climbers, squat thrusts, pull ups, rope climbs, crab walks, sprints and pushups, pushups and more pushups! There was no lifting weights or fancy ab exercises, but I came out of there with 6 pack abs, just like wrestling workouts used to do for me.
no need to recruit
If you want a great workout program to keep yourself fit during the off-season then take a well structured bootcamp exercise program and you can stay lean and in good shape all year round. Don’t wait until then to start exercising to burn body fat and control your cardio. All you have to do is carve out 3-4 days per week for exercise and you’ll be ready to wrestle all the time. If you are not a wrestler but want to look like one then I encourage you to try this style of workout.
