Artificial Hair Transplant – FUE Hair Transplant

Hair loss occurs in both men and women and occurs as a result of the following factors: weak roots, dandruff, age, genetic makeup, improper diet. There are many ways or treatments to treat hair loss, but if the cause of hair loss is a genetic factor, it can be treated only by artificial hair transplant.

Artificial hair transplant is fast becoming a popular method adopted by people with hair loss, especially men who are experiencing premature balding. This is a surgical procedure, and should be discussed with a trusted doctor before undergoing it. Getting cheap or fake implants will have adverse effects on your scalp.

Before you undergo surgery, do background checks on hair clinics. If you are not sure, you can seek advice and suggestions from a professional, who should be able to recommend good clinics for you, and also the most suitable transplant procedure.

Artificial hair transplant involves moving hair from the part of the body that has hair to the part of the head that is prone to hair loss. The former site is known as the donor site while the latter part is known as the recipient site. Donor grafts must also be composed of hair follicles that are resistant to baldness. The donor site will be determined by the surgeon after a comprehensive examination of the skull. The advantage of this procedure is that the result lasts longer than with other methods.

There are different types of implants but the main ones are; Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS) and Follicular Unit Extraction are popularly called FUE hair transplant.

FUE Hair Transplant: This is the most recent and currently the most popular hair transplant procedure. It is better than other methods of hair transplant, as it does not involve skin cutting and grafting as is done in other methods. Thus, making it minimally invasive, and it does not cause skin trauma. It also does not require stitches and scarring, as seen in other methods involving skin grafting. This procedure involves only follicular unit hair transplant. The surgeon removes the follicular hair unit from the donor site by making a small, round incision in the skin that holds the follicular unit. The follicular unit is then pulled out, leaving behind a small hole. This continues until the surgeon has obtained the amount of follicular units needed for transplantation. The follicular units are then inserted into the recipient pores that should have already formed in the bald area.

The implant is performed using a micro needle point instrument. Eventually, the follicular units will develop into healthy hair-producing follicles. This method takes about an hour or two, but if it’s a large session, it can take up to 2 days. It takes 7 to 10 days for the wound at the donor site to heal completely. To reduce pain, the surgeon must anesthetize the donor site before extracting the follicular units. Donor sites can be chest hair, leg hair, arm hair or any part of the body that has sufficient hair.

FUE hair transplant is highly recommended as it is faster, easier, does not involve scarring and wounds heal faster. Take proper care of the scalp after surgery by regularly washing and massaging it. This increases the flow of blood to the scalp.
