A bold statement, but how much I love this exercise. Partly because I “made it up”, but mostly because it works! I call it the “Medicine Ball Abs Blaster” because it is performed with a medicine ball (MB) and well… it “blasts your abs”. This is one of the best exercises for the abs because it works the entire area (with the exception of the obliques). Anyway, instead of talking about how cool it is, I’ll tell you how to do it. Well for this you will need a workout partner.
Best Exercises For Abs – Technique Tips!
First things first, you’ll want to select a medicine ball and lie on your back in a regular seated position. Lift the “MB” up and when you’re ready – arms outstretched – sit up and let it come through your fingers and into the hands of your partner (who will be standing near your feet).
Pause briefly while you wait for your training partner to bounce the medicine ball back into your hands. Remember, spread those arms! Lower your body back down to the starting position in a controlled motion. At this point, you then lift your legs up — keeping them straight — and “tilt the pelvis” to kick your feet up toward the ceiling.
Lower them back down in a controlled motion and as soon as your heels touch the ground, crunch up and throw the “MB” back to your training partner. You’ll want to repeat this sequence for as many repetitions as you can.
