I hope these tips make your winter more bearable and you and your hair have a wonderful healthy winter. A few simple tricks can make winter not so long and harsh.
The number one place to survive the winter months is humidity. Use moisturizer to protect your hair in cold weather. Use intense reconditioning products in the winter at least twice a week, this will help combat the dry heat we’re used to indoors as temperatures drop.
The number two slot is taken up by regulator trims or hair cuts for your dead split ends, a must for healthy hair. If left untreated, split ends can become a big problem later on.
Number three – Wash hair with cool or cool water to close your cuticles and seal in moisture.
Number four – extreme temperatures cause trouble for your hair… Being too cold or hot is not healthy for your hair. Try not to use very hot curling irons on your hair or sit too close to air vents and letting the heat blow through your hair can dry them out. Cold air can cause your hair to freeze and break, so be careful.
Tip number five – don’t over-shampoo your hair. Winter is the perfect time to give our hair a break from shampooing. You are not applying too much sun tan oil to your hair or sweating at the beach; Let your hair grow longer between shampoos, your hair will thank you.
Tip number six – It’s a good idea to change your shampoo and conditioner every few weeks. Just as your body can become immune to certain medications, your hair can become less sensitive to the same shampoo week after week. Just change it up a bit.
Tip number seven – don’t put too much product on your hair, too much of a good thing is a bad idea. Too much gel or mousse can weigh your hair down. Too much hair spray can make it dry and brittle.
Tip number eight is a more specific tip for gray hair. Coloring gray hair can be difficult, but it can be done. The main thing you have to remember is that packaged hair colors come with 20 volume peroxide and you need to use 5 or 10 volume to deposit the colour. Just change that one thing and you can cover up your gray hairs. Then moisturize for winters after every chemical you use on your hair.
Number nine – You may want to go a shade darker with your hair color during the winter months. You usually lose some of your tan and the colors you wear in clothes defiantly change, so make a subtle change in your hair color. Maybe a shade darker to go with your new fall wardrobe.
Tip number ten The winter months always have one big problem: It’s freezing. The old tip of lightly spraying your brush with hair spray still holds true today. This is a great way to get rid of the flyaway hairs that plague us all during the colder months.
I hope these tips make your winter a little more bearable. These are all tried and true ways to cure the winter blues. Happy Hair Days.
