Is there really such a thing as a ‘skinny’ gene? According to scientists and recent research, it can be used for rapid weight loss.
This gene has been given the unflattering clinical title of SIRT1 – but is always humorously referred to by the media as the ‘skinny gene’.
The discovery of this gene is believed to have started with one of the recent diet program explosions.
The principle of this quick weight loss diet is to eat very little (50 percent of your normal intake) one day and as much as you want the next. It appears that this process triggers the infamous ‘skinny’ gene which encourages the body to burn fat.
If you’re not familiar with the diet, here are some basic principles:
1. You ‘fast’ or diet for one day, then eat whatever you like, the next day you go back to dieting, and so on.
2. If you want to lose weight, you should aim to consume less than 35% of your normal daily intake on fasting days.
3. The idea is that on normal days, once every two days, not only does it trigger the ‘skinny gene’; It also helps regulate your metabolism so that it doesn’t store food.
4. Normal Days also helps in relieving the general fatigue that comes from regular strict dieting.
5. You should exercise on normal days and drink plenty of water throughout the diet.
These are just some of the basic principles behind the diet, there are other aspects involved and nutrition in the diet and advice on how to deal with the onset of fatigue associated with rapid weight loss diets. This mainly includes the correct use of important vitamins and minerals as well as the recommended protein intake.
